I was 17 years old at Santa Monica High School when I asked myself if I wanted to become a medical doctor or an attorney. I always loved student government. At Lincoln Middle School I was Speaker of the House and was the first student to give the announcements everyday over the school's broadcast system. I was also the first student to be on student TV, providing the visual portion of providing announcements. Entering Santa Monica High School (SAMOHI), I was the only freshman to join student government. You may be asking why this is relevant to who I am. Well, let me tell you.
On Election Day in junior year, I became Santa Monica High School's Student Body President, representing 3,400 students and about 100 teachers and administration. I campaigned and strategized how I would win this position as I was and will always be the most qualified for the position. against many other candidates, all of which tried to run using their unnecessary pompous attitudes and taking the position as a joke to purport their insulting rhetoric to the student body-- of a lack of ambition, a lame duck status quo, seeking this high position for personal gain rather than making it the best year any student has had in school.
I told myself that if I became Student Body President, it was the universe telling me to become an attorney and I would so do so. During my senior year of 2008-2009, I took upon myself many issues including leading the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District's School Board of elected officials to choose my plan of action as to the distribution of the fiscal year's budget without terminating or removing vital parts of the school's character. There was a lot of politics involved and I knew that my diplomacy and ability to lead with the fervor of a natural born leader was pivotal to stopping a group of parents who obsessively sought to diminish the structural integrity of SAMOHI for reasons other than the best interest of the school and who could be analogized to special interest groups. When one of the teachers informed me of what was occurring, that teachers were being "pink slipped" and that buildings spelling out each of the letters of SAMOHI were to be cut, I realized that these decisions had a better solution than what was on the Board's agenda and went to the televised meetings on my own volition to provide my proposal for the best way to deal with the budget cuts, why the administration that was threatened to be fired via "pink slips" was detrimental and unnecessary and that this politically charged group of aggressive adults seeking to diminish the livelihood of student life is another attempt at turning SAMOHI's vibrancy into a dull, communistic and boring place for students to be in for eight hours of their day. As the Board listened, they were careful to respond to the truthful issues I set forth until they resolved to follow my lead and implement the exact outline of my proposal for what should be done as a result of the budget cuts without regard for any of the aggressive, political special interest group looking to create factions which has been long warned against in all of the documents that govern the country.
I share one of my experiences as Student Body President with you to provide you with an idea of why I chose to become an attorney.
I went on to UCLA with a full scholarship as an English Major. I was unanimously appointed Associate Chief Justice of the Judicial Branch and made rulings on issues that arose during campaign season and other matters that arose from the student handbook. I had now also experienced the equivalent to the Judicial Branch as a Judge on the Supreme Court of UCLA. Graduating at 22, I had unpurchasable experience being President and Associate Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Discipline in these aspects is one of my favorite traits; my character is built on the understanding of how the three branches of government work, independently from each other and what they have in common. Above I had written about how aggressive and intentionally detrimental politics by careless interest groups makes what is beautiful into what is flat and dull. Aware of this for many years, I turned into a phenomenal speaker, giving speeches of my own philosophies to all different groups-- boards, elected officials, students, incoming classes and professors.
I chose to attend Southwestern Law School straight from UCLA. I had achieved such a high reputation in my criminal law class that my professor recommended me to the Los Angeles District Attorney's (DA) office. I was chosen to work in the prestigious Hardcore Gangs unit in Compton, under my supervising attorney who is now a Superior Court Judge, to prosecute gang murders. The next semester I was asked to return to a different unit of the DA's office but I declined. I declined because I had already experienced and learned the inner workings of the DA's office and knew that there were other areas of law I wanted to learn.
During law school I also worked at a highly reputable personal injury firm and learned everything about injuries. I continued working personal injury cases after law school and have worked at least
During law school, the Vice President of a conglomerate music publishing company asked I join the music licensing department. I further met with talent and sports agents. During law school I was Director of Student Life and continued my student government positions from 14 to when I graduated law school at 25, one of the youngest of my class. In 2015, I interviewed with White House Counsel to work for 1600 Pennsylvania as counsel. I had been to Washington, D.C. a couple of times and wasn't interested in moving there. I stayed in Los Angeles where I flourished in my first law office, Dillon & Dillon, successfully cutting criminal charges, obtaining child custody rights for hundreds of clients, drafting and interpreting contracts for
I had thought about running for Mayor or a similar position in Los Angeles.
